Flight 300 kilometers on one engine. Ukraine air force Su-24MR
On July 2, 2014, during the combat mission over Slovyansk town (Donetsk region), russian terrorists launched four missiles from MANPADs along the reconnaissance aircraft Su-24MR of Ukraine Air Force. From the three missiles, he was able to escape with a missile maneuver and infrared countermeasure, but one missile hit to the left engine, causing a fire in the engine
The crew was able to extinguish the fire and return on one engine to the departure aerodrome, whose distance was about 300 km.
During the landing on the aircraft had a fire again, but he successfully landed.
Later, despite the damage, the aircraft was repaired and put into the service (in particular, the replacement of the vertical stabilizer, the left stabilizer and the engine).
July 08, 2014 the crew of Su-24MR №11 was awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky III degree.
